Małgorzata Uściłowska (born 12th Febuary 1987 in Wyszków), also known as Lanberry, is a Polish pop singer-songwriter from Warsaw. Her debut album, Lanberry, was released on 4th March 2016.
Career[]
Childhood[]
Lanberry was born on 12th Febuary 1987 in Wyszków into a musical family. She attended the C.K. Norwida high school in Wyszków, before moving to Warsaw, where she studied linguistics.
Early Career[]
Lanberry's career began by uploading covers of songs to YouTube. In 2013, she participated in the Polish version of The Voice but did not pass the "blind audition" round. In 2014, she participated in the fourth series of X Factor Poland, but was eliminated at the judges' houses.
2015-16: Debut Album[]
Lanberry's first single, "Podpalimy świat", was released on 10th September 2015, composed by Lanberry and Piotr Siejka. The song reached 19th on the Polish AirPlay charts, and was certified gold with over 10,000 sales. Her second single, "Każdy moment", was released in January 2016, peaking at 37th in the AirPlay chart.
On March 4th 2016, Lanberry's debut album was released on Universal Music Poland. It included a number of songs, including "Podpalimy świat" and "Każdy moment". In July her third single, "Bunt", was released, but did not chart.
On 5th August 2016, Lanberry released her next single, "Piątek", which was the most successful of her singles to date, charting at 7th in the AirPlay chart and being certified gold with over 10,000 sales in Poland. In September, an English version of this song was released, titled "Only Human".
2017: Re-release and The Origin Song Contest[]
On March 23rd 2017, Lanberry released the single "Zagadka", which peaked at 27th in the Polish charts. In June 2017, a re-release of her album, titled Lanberry - Edycja Specjalna was released, including "Zagadka" and its English counterpart "How Do You Like Me Now".
On 27th May 2017, Lanberry's song "Zagadka" won the Polish national final for The Origin Song Contest 02, called Piosenka dla Finlandii. She was chosen to represent Poland at the contest in Espoo, Finland. To represent the country at the contest, a bilingual version was also produced. It qualified to the final (coming fifth with 82 points), where it finished in twelfth place with 52 points.
Lanberry released the single "Ostatni most" on 10th August 2017 which charted at 2nd, making the song her biggest chart success to date. This was followed on 5th December 2017 with the song "Gotowi na wszystko" as a collaboration with pop band Feel. The song was released as a promotional single for the 2018 film Gotowi na wszystko. Exterminator and was Lanberry's first number one single. Both "Ostatni most" and "Gotowi na wszystko" were given gold certification in Poland.
2018-2020: miXtura[]
In 2018, Lanberry released three singles: "Nieznajomy" on the 18th May, "Heart of Gasoline" on the 5th October and "Nie ma nie" on the 24th. "Nieznajomy" charted at 12th in the Polish airplay charts, while "Nie ma nie" peaked at 13th.
Her second studio album, miXtura, was released on 9th November 2018. The album contained fourteen songs, of which five had also been released as singles - "Ostatni most", "Heart of Gasoline", "Nie ma nie", "Gotowi na wszystko" and "Nieznajomy".
On 25th April, Lanberry released the single "Mówiłeś" which peaked at number 24 in the Airplay chart. A music video was released three weeks later. On 13th September, she also released "Fit Me As I Am", a single released in promotion with Maybelline New York, which was followed by "Zew" on 18th October, which peaked at twentieth position.
Lanberry's first single of 2020, "Tracę", was released on 11th March and reached position 22 in the charts.
