Internal Selection[]

On 5th February 2017, TVP revealed that "Dryfy" performed by Kasia Popowska would represent Poland at the first edition of The Origin Song Contest. The song, composed by Popowska herself, was selected through an open call for submissions by TVP. The song was debuted by a live performance of the entry on Wiadomości, the main TVP news programme, broadcast on TVP1. In addition, the preview was live streamed to the rest of Europe via a live stream on the The Origin Song Contest website.

On 4 February 2017,  the semi-final allocation draw for The Origin Song Contest 01 took place at the Cloth Hall in Kraków, where the heads of delegation of the participating countries met to discuss the upcoming contest, and also where the countries would be allocated into halves of the two semi-finals. As host country Poland was allocated into the first half of the final.

The betting odds for the edition placed Poland ninth place out of the thirty-three participating countries with odds of 3.33. This placed Poland between Norway and Monaco in the betting odds.

In addition, on 9 February, several members of the Polish delegation travelled to Riga, Latvia, where Popowska performed her song "Przyjdzie taki dzień" at the Riga pre party organised by the Latvian broadcaster and fan club.
